Bokšay Jozef
(1891 - 1975)
The Ukrainian painter Jozef Bokšay taught drawing together with geometry at the gymnasium in Uzhhorod from 1918. At the same time, he devoted himself extensively to his own work. Bokšay made a number of study trips abroad, for example to Prague, Vienna and Paris. In 1926 he had a solo exhibition in Prague. In his work, he concentrated mainly on depicting the landscape of his native Transcarpathia, and also devoted himself to portrait painting and book illustration.
