Blažíček Oldřich
(1887 - 1953)
Blažíček has been called "the painter of joy" and his paintings really make the observer feel elated. The relaxed painterly handwriting, the bright colours, the landscape and rural themes he often chose for his works exude the optimism that was supposedly inherent in this painter. Oldřich Blažíček came from modest circumstances and at the beginning of his career worked as a room painter. It was only after some time that he managed to get into the Academy, where he eventually joined the ranks of talented Czech artists and confirmed his contribution to the art scene. Apart from landscape painting, his domain was also painting architectural interiors. He exhibited his works both in the Czech Republic and at foreign exhibitions.
