Benedikt Václav
(1952)
Václav Benedikt is one of the most important representatives of the contemporary Czech art scene. In 1978-1984 he studied privately with Professor Jiří Patera. Benedikt's work, thanks to its subtle colour harmony, belongs to the lyrical abstraction movement. The artist's paintings are often a private statement about a moment or a dreamscape, in which figurative elements also appear. In addition to painting, Benedikt is also active in the field of graphic art. He works in lithography or drypoint. Another interesting area is Benedikt's cooperation in the interior design of important buildings, for example he has participated in the interior design of the Mövenpick Hotel, Raiffeisenbank and several others. He has held over a hundred exhibitions in the Czech Republic and abroad and his work is represented in public and private collections.
